What is Error Correction training?

Error correction training must occur if the technician commits a fatal flaw, causing a DOT drug or alcohol test to be cancelled.  The error correction training need only cover the subject matter area relating to the fatal flaw. In addition to reviewing the regulations and procedures relating to the error, the technician must complete 3 error-free mock tests.  One mock test may consist of an uneventful testing scenario and two mock tests must be scenarios related to the error. The individual who observes the mock tests must meet the requirements to be an Instructor.

The technician has up to 30-days to complete error correction training. During that time they are allowed to continue to perform drug or alcohol testing. If after 30 days has expired and the technician has not completed error correction training, they are not allowed to perform testing until training is received.
