Prerequisites, Enrollment and Post-Training Steps
Prerequisites, Enrollment and Post-Training Steps
To receive a NIOSH-approved Spirometry Refresher training certificate, you must provide a copy of a currently “active” NIOSH-approved spirometry training certificate (initial or refresher). Active certificates are certificates less than 7 months past the expiration date printed on your certificate. After completing your purchase, an email will be sent with instructions for sending a copy of your active certificate for enrollment verification.
Certifications that meet NIOSH standards are verified within 2 business days. Once verified and enrolled, you will receive an email inviting you to log-in and take the course. This training course is roughly 7 hours in length but can be paused and restarted at will.
Students not meeting NIOSH eligibility criteria, may choose to participate in the Fundamentals of Spirometry training.
Post-Online Training Steps
After completing the online course and final exam, you must submit 10 spirometry reports that meet the NIOSH requirement for acceptability and repeatability for review. This is the final step and a NIOSH requirement for certification.
- Some reports can be dated before the start of your refresher training
- Most reports must have tests dated after the start of your refresher training and preferably after completing your refresher training.
Instructions on where and how to submit these reports will be emailed once you complete your online training.
